SunnySunday have partnered with Conservation Volunteers NZ to bring you an opportunity to help rescue native trees from invasive weeds. Nestled along the upper reaches of the Waitemata Harbour in Paremoremo lies Sanders Reserve. It’s a fantastic 41 acre multiuse recreation area with great views of the Harbour. A local community group, Sustainable Paremoremo have been working hard on the restoration of this area over the past few years by planting over 20,000 native trees. These trees are now in trouble as they are being strangled by invasive weeds greatly reducing their chances of survival. Releasing these trees from weeds is too big a task for this small volunteer group to do alone. Can you help by coming out for a day to help give these young trees their best chance of reaching maturity?

WHAT TO BRING

It's important that you bring a snack and full reusable water bottle with you – just ask your team leader if you need to refill it during the day. We will have lots of extra drinking water on site.

If you would like to join us for the picnic when the hard work has been done, please BYO picnic lunch and blanket.

WHAT TO WEAR

CVNZ recommends strong work or walking boots that will protect your feet and ankles – make sure they are comfortable!

For protection from the sun and for your own safety you are required to wear long trousers, long sleeved shirts.
